Terre des hommes is looking for a proactive, energetic, and organised IT Specialist/Consultant, to join its team in Ivano -Frankivsk, Ukraine, to support in the implementation of its projects. Terre des hommes (Tdh), founded in 1960, is an independent, neutral and impartial Swiss organisation committed to bringing meaningful and lasting change to the lives of children and youth, especially to those most exposed to risks. We strive to improve their well-being and ensure the effective application of their rights as defined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other relevant human rights instruments.
Position Objective: To implement and support a secure, low-cost digital platform for CABs in Ukraine that meets safeguarding standards, is tested with children, deployed across all 57 CABs, and can be independently administered by local teams by the end of 2025.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Select and configure the safest, lowest-cost digital toolkit that meets Ukraine CAB safeguarding criteria.
- Facilitate live prototyping with children during the Bootcamp, including stress-tests on 2G/3G phones.
- Lead the technical pilot: deploy Element/Matrix rooms and Nextcloud drives for all 57 CABs; ensure data-protection settings; create admin documentation.
- Build the capacity of child Link Leads, adult mentors and Tdh staff to administer the system independently.
- Provide remote troubleshooting and performance monitoring until the final hand-over in Dec 2025.
YOUR PROFILE
Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
Experience:
- 3 years deploying open-source collaboration platforms (Matrix/Element, Nextcloud, Rocket.Chat, etc. or other similar) in low-resource settings.
- Demonstrated work on digital safeguarding / data-protection compliance for minors.
- Prior experience with humanitarian or child-rights organisations in conflict-affected contexts is an asset.
Skills:
- Linux server admin, end-to-end encryption, mobile performance optimisation.
- Training design and remote facilitation (Ukrainian & English).
- Rapid prototyping and user-centred design methods.
Personal: Strong communication, patience working with children, commitment to Tdh Child Protection Policy.
Desirable: experience with Ukrainian legal data protection framework.
