Job Summary
MSC Ukraine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intermodal Customer Service Specialist to coordinate and manage customer service activities related to intermodal transportation. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments and external partners to ensure the seamless movement of cargo across multiple modes of transportation, including rail, road, and sea. Alignment with MSC’s core values will be crucial in driving our financial success and supporting our global operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Interaction with Shipper:
- Gather comprehensive information regarding potential transportation needs.
2. Quotations:
- Conduct preliminary analysis of local infrastructure.
- Provide alternative combinations of transport modes (e.g., road-sea, rail-sea, rail-road, river-sea-road).
- Estimate delivery times accurately.
- Propose intermodal «door-to-door» delivery options, including established routes, transshipment points, and associated fees.
3. Analysis of International Legislation:
- Review applicable rules and regulations according to the chosen form of the unified transport document.
4. Contractual and Operational Planning:
- Engage in discussions regarding intermodal transportation contracts to ensure safe and clear transportation terms.
- Develop detailed operational plans for intermodal transportation.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors.
5. Support and Coordination:
- Provide logistical support for internal port forwarding activities.
- Oversee the organization and coordination of shipments.
- Manage the implementation of transportation activities.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of cargo through effective coordination and management.
6. Customer Service and Communication:
- Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and propose effective solutions.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, including rail operators, trucking companies, and port authorities, to facilitate smooth operations.
- Provide regular updates to customers regarding the status and progress of their deliveries.
7. Documentation and Reporting
- Handle documentation such as bills of lading, freight bills, and customs declarations.
- Keep detailed records and reports of shipment activities.
8. Optimization and Collaboration:
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
- Work with sales and logistics teams to develop and implement customer-centric solutions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 year of experience in intermodal transportation, customer service, or logistics.
- Good knowledge of intermodal operations and regulations, the main forms of through transport documents adopted in intermodal transportation.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in logistics software and other relevant technologies.
- English level: Intermediate and above, knowledge of an additional language is an advantage.
- Key Skills:
- Strong Organizational Skills: Essential for managing multiple shipments and coordinating with various carriers.
- Effective Communication: Crucial for liaising with clients, customs officials, and transportation providers.
- Attention to Detail: Important for preparing accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Necessary for resolving issues that arise during the shipping process.
- Preferred Qualifications: FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding is considered an advantage.
