The role entails:
- Under supervision of the Estates Corporate Services Manager provide advice and guidance to ensure all Official Properties comply with safety standards in relation to fire safety, electricity, gas, water, etc.
- Prepare and implement the Post H&S Improvement Plan to raise safety compliance in the Office, the Residence and Residential properties.
- Create and maintain Technical Profiles for Owned and Leased Properties including the Embassy building ensuring easy access and readable format of the management and inspectors to the H&S documents.
- Advise Estates colleagues on compliance of potential new properties and provide recommendations on its improvement to the required UK H&S standards.
- Overview the Planned and Preventive Periodic Maintenance Schedule (monthly, quarterly, seasonal checks and works) in the official properties and guide Maintenance Team members to its timely implementation in line with H&S policy and FCDO best practice.
- In cooperation with Estates Manager CSM overview maintenance requests and step in when the team is in difficulty. Take efforts to offer a possible solution to the MT or escalate to CSM the management if needed. Seek feedback from the customers and identify areas that need improvement.
- Brief Embassy staff on H&S at workplace (to achieve hygiene and ergonomic compliance) and in the accommodation (e.g. fire and tap water bacteria risks mitigations). Lead on arranging activities aimed to raise staff awareness and H&S compliance (reminder letters, presentations, sample testing etc).
- Line-management of at least 2x S-grade technicians.
- Updating post property databases profiles including but not limited to the H&S, fire safety and other technical and maintenance details.
- Back up and cover to Estates Manager, Accommodation Officer, Maintenance supervisor during absences.
- Support and contribute to other projects, activities, and initiatives in the Corporate Services and across wider Embassy (e.g. Post Housing Committee, Health and Safety Committee, Dacha Committee etc.).
This is a full-time permanent contract, for 40 working hours per week including 1 hour per day for lunch.
