Job Title: Local Area Coordinator
Duty Station: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Expected starting date: September 2025
Expected end date: 12 months
Working Time: To be determined (under evaluation)
Reporting Line: Senior Programme Manager
Scope of the Position:
CESVI is looking for a Local Area Coordinator who will support the coordination and implementation of CESVI activities in east Ukraine (Kharkiv and Sumy Oblasts).
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise the field teams ensuring the support needed.
- Ensure the correct allocation of the resources to better respond to the needs of the projects implementation.
- Oversee the implementation of the projects implemented by CESVI and its partners.
- In coordination with the Project Managers, monitor the activities regularly ensuring the tracking progress and assessing the impact of the interventions.
- Ensure financial accountability and transparency in collaboration with the Country Administrator.
- Operation: Support the Deputy Head of Mission for Operations on matters related to Procurement, Logistics and Human resources.
- Support the Security manager in conducting security assessments and ensure the correct implementation of the security protocols.
- Ensure the respect and implantation of CESVI procedure and guidelines, PSEA and Code of Conduct etc.
- Build relationships with local authorities, communities, other NGOs, clusters, UN agencies.
- Ensuring effective communication with and accountability to beneficiaries.
- Ensure timely communication with the Project Managers, DHoM for Operations and the Country Administrator in the main Country office.
- Lead the need assessments reflecting accurately the needs of the beneficiaries for the sectors of interest of CESVI.
- Providing training and capacity-building opportunities for the field teams.
- Provide feedback on the professional performance of the field teams.
- Contribute to the development of area-specific strategies and action plans.
Qualifications:
University degree (Master's degree preferred) in a relevant field such as International Development, Social Sciences, public health or a related discipline.
Professional experience:
- Experience in humanitarian projects interventions/projects (at least 2 years);
- Experience with an (I)NGO (preferred);
- Strong analytical, coordination and organizational skills;
- Computer skills: MS Office package and Internet;
- Fluency in spoken and written English:
- Ability to lead and manage teams to achieve demonstrable results;
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring/capacity building of staff and commitment to staff training and development;
- Experience in Procurement and Security Assessment (preferred);
- Be able to travel to other sites for support when assigned by the direct line manager;
- Excellent interpersonal and representational skills;
- Good communication and report-writing skills are essential.
