About Serve Freight
Serve Freight is a U.S.-based freight brokerage with a 10-person team (4 in the U.S. and 6 in Ukraine). We’re entering our second year of operations.

About the role
We’re looking for an experienced, driven Director of Operations to lead and scale our core business functions. You’ll work directly with the CEO and team leads to ensure daily operations run smoothly, projects move forward efficiently, and Serve Freight delivers on its promise of fanatical logistics support.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-trust environment, enjoys building systems and teams, and is excited to help grow a company from the ground up.
Our ideal candidate
- Has 5+ years of experience in operations, logistics, supply chain, or related fields — preferably in a startup or fast-growth environment.
- Has at least 1 year of experience working with U.S.-based companies or clients, or a strong track record of navigating U.S. business culture with ease and professionalism.
- Is based in Ukraine (or originally from Ukraine) with excellent English fluency, both written and spoken.
- Has deep understanding of logistics operations — ideally U.S. freight brokerage, dispatching, or supply chain management.
- Has leadership experience — you’ve led teams, built systems, and know how to execute at a high level.
- Is strategic thinker with a hands-on approach — you can both see the big picture and manage the day-to-day details.
- Has data-driven decision making approach and solid track record of streamlining workflows, optimizing processes, and improving KPIs.
- Has experience in process automation, project management, and data analytics.
- Is tech-savvy — familiar with tools like a TMS (ours is Turvo), HubSpot, Notion, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
- Is clear, confident communicator across teams, clients, and partners.
- Is calm under pressure, proactive, and solutions-oriented.
Key responsibilities
- Operational leadership
Example of tasks:
- Oversee and improve daily freight operations — ensure smooth quoting, booking, and shipment execution.
- Own key operational reporting — prepare weekly and monthly reports on freight volumes, margins, on-time delivery, and other critical metrics.
- Lead capacity and resource planning — ensure lean team, tools, and resources utilization, and readiness for increased volumes.
- Support financial planning — contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning in coordination with the CEO and finance.
- Build and optimize internal systems and SOPs to support scalability and efficiency.
- Build and manage operational KPIs — monitor performance, identify issues, and drive improvements.
- Coordinate across departments (sales, support, logistics) to align on priorities and resolve blockers.
- Collaborate with the CEO on strategic planning, resource allocation, and goal setting.
- Team management

- Lead and mentor team members — foster accountability, clarity, and continuous growth.
- Ensure clear communication and coordination across the U.S. and Ukraine teams.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Project & process management
Example of tasks:
- Own key initiatives and ensure successful execution from start to finish.
- Drive process improvements — identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and implement changes.
- Ensure systems and tools are consistently accurate and fully utilized.
- Client & vendor support
Example of tasks:
- Maintain high service standards — ensure clients and partners receive timely, professional communication and support.
- Support strategic vendor relationships and evaluate sourcing opportunities as needed.
Defining success in this role
- Daily operations are running smoothly, efficiently, and without surprises.
- Teams are aligned, accountable, and supported to meet individual and company goals.
- Key metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, quote accuracy, system usage) are trending positively.
- Operational processes are well-documented, consistent, and continually improving.
- Projects are executed on time, on budget, and with clear communication throughout.
- The CEO is focused on strategy and growth — because you’ve got the operations handled.
- By the end of your first month, you’ll have already optimized a key process and helped the team operate more smoothly.
