Backend Developer (Ruby on Rails, API)
We’re looking for a Backend Developer (Ruby on Rails) to join our on-site Kyiv team. You’ll be working on U.S. based projects, building and scaling API-driven services, and collaborating with top engineers and product teams.

- On-site only: This role is based in Kyiv. Remote work is NOT available. Please apply only if you can work on-site.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain API services using Ruby on Rails.
- Implement business logic, authentication, and integrations.
- Design efficient database models and queries (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
- Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams.
- Write clean, maintainable, and tested code, following Rails best practices.
- Ensure coverage with unit and integration tests.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing tools.

Requirements
- 2+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails, including commercial API development.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, JWT authentication.
- Proficiency in relational databases (MySQL/Postgres, ActiveRecord).
- Experience writing tests with RSpec (unit, request, integration).
- Familiarity with Git workflows and Agile teamwork.
- Practical use of Postman, Swagger, or similar tools for API documentation.
- Knowledge of background job processing (Sidekiq/ActiveJob).
- Pragmatic mindset: avoid overengineering, focus on delivering value.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn (we're happy to share knowledge!).

Nice to Have
- Experience with service-oriented architectures or microservices.
- Exposure to API performance tuning and caching strategies.
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Go/Golang familiarity or desire to learn.
