We’re a fast-growing carrier looking for an experienced Truck Dispatcher to keep our fleet moving safely, profitably, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch open-deck loads with optimal routing.
- Coordinate daily with drivers, brokers, and customers.
- Track shipments and ensure on-time pickups/deliveries.
- Negotiate rates and secure profitable freight on DAT, Truckstop, and direct boards.
- Verify load details (dimensions, weight, center of gravity, tarp/chain/strap requirements).
- Arrange OS/OW permits, escorts, and route surveys when required.
- Troubleshoot service issues in real time (weather, road closures, mechanical, appointments).
- Maintain accurate records: BOLs/RCs, rate cons, PODs, accessorials, and driver HOS/ELD compliance.
- Monitor axle/bridge laws and state-specific open-deck rules to prevent citations and delays.
Requirements
- 1−2+ years as a semi-truck dispatcher; experience required.
- Strong command of load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.) and common TMS/ELD tools.
- Solid understanding of HOS, FMCSA rules, axle weights, and bridge laws.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize under pressure and manage multiple trucks/loads at once.
Nice to Have
- Experience with commodities like steel, machinery, lumber, building materials, and oversized equipment.
- Familiarity with route planning for height/weight restrictions and construction zones.
- Basic cost-to-run and margin analysis.
