INTERSOS Ukraine is a subdivision of the international humanitarian organization INTERSOS (Italy).
We provide support to victims of emergencies, armed conflicts and natural disasters with particular attention to the most vulnerable categories: children, women, elderly people, displaces persons, who were forced to flee their homes and moved to safer places and also to those who cannot leave the dangerous regions and are under constant threat.
INTERSOS teams are present in Odesa, Kiev, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv, Kherson and now expand their activities in Sumy.
INTERSOS Ukraine provides economic, humanitarian and medical aid, psychological support, organizes educational activities, gives medicines and equipment to the hospitals, provides shelter and ensures basic human needs. During one year of our work in Ukraine we provided support to more than 100 000 people. 75 000 of them received aid in the sphere of protection, prevention and emergency care. 3 000 medical consultations were carried out in remote regions, which are not covered by the official heath care system. 49 medical institutions received medicines, medical devices and equipment.
We are opening a vacancy of the Mine Action Officer
Location: Odesa or Mykolaiv, with business trips to all project locations: Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts and Kyiv office for coordination purposes if needed.
Duration of contract: 6 months with a possibility for extension
Main Purpose
The Mine Action Officer will support the Mine Action Manager, in close coordination with the partners in the planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of Mine Action activities carried out under the AICS-funded project. The project includes extensive travelling to field locations in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts. S/he will be responsible for day-to-day follow-up with implementing partners (UDA and RCC), ensuring proper data collection and reporting (including into IMSMA), and contributing to operational quality, compliance with IMAS and national standards, and effective communication with stakeholders working in close coordination with the partners. The Officer will learn from the partners and ensure the dissemination of lessons learned within INTERSOS.
Reporting to:
Hierarchical: Mine Action Manager
Functional: Protection Coordinator
Functional collaboration: Technical staff of UDA and RCC.
Tasks
Operational Support
- Assist the Mine Action Manager in planning and supervising jointly with the partners NTS, reNTS, TS, marking, and MRE awareness-raising activities to be carried out by UDA and RCC.
- Jointly with the partners, monitor the progress of field operations, ensuring adherence to IMAS, MAC guidelines, and Ukrainian national standards.
- Provide logistical and administrative follow-up for field activities, including equipment management and field missions.

Data Management and Reporting
- Ensure timely collection, verification, and consolidation of operational data from UDA and RCC.
- Support the accurate entry of data into IMSMA and the preparation of technical reports.
- Draft internal updates and contribute to donor and cluster reporting.

Coordination and Liaison
- Support the Mine Action Manager in acting as a focal point with partner organizations (UDA and RCC) on daily operational matters.
- Actively participate in the activities of the partners, supporting them and learning best practices
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings (Mine Action AoR, EORE WG, Protection Cluster) as delegated by the Mine Action Manager.
- Support liaison with local authorities and civil society actors in project areas.

Capacity Building and Support
- Contribute to training and mentoring sessions for INTERSOS staff and partners on data collection, reporting, and compliance with standards.
- Support MRE awareness-raising activities in collaboration with technical experts.
- Ensure compliance with INTERSOS safety, security, and protection guidelines during field activities.

Requirements
Education
- University degree in International Relations, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Studies, Engineering, or related fields.
- Specialized training in Mine Action (survey, MRE, IMSMA) is an asset.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Professional requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in humanitarian or development programmes, with at least 1 years in Mine Action(survey, clearance, MRE, or related fields).
- Experience in project implementation, monitoring, or reporting for international NGOs or Mine Action operators.
- Familiarity with IMAS and Mine Action coordination structures (MAC, IMSMA, AoR).

Personal requirements
- Strong organizational, monitoring, and reporting skills.
- Good knowledge of IMSMA or similar data management systems.
- Ability to work independently under supervision, and to coordinate with multiple actors.
- Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles, protection mainstreaming, and safety protocols.
- Willingness and ability to move in different oblasts based on project needs

Languages
- Fluency in Ukrainian is required
- Knowledge of English (written and spoken) is strongly desirable.
